Why Is My Cat Coughing After Surgery?

Question by Nida S: why is my cat coughing after surgery?
he is 11 years old, and had a dental cleaning done last week. He has been coughing ever since. He will only cough once or twice, and it doesn’t seem to bother him or hurt at all. I know they intubated him and that must have irritated the throat, but it should have been okay by now.

It could still be from the tube but you need to let the vet know. He could have an infection in his throat or lungs, or he could have a heart issue. It may not be directly related to the procedure but the procedure may have made it more obvious, especially if it is a heart issue.
